Katie has been making hats for over 35 years. Her hats became so popular among carriage driving people (and anyone else looking for a fabulous hat!) that she started making hats full-time 30 years ago. A highlight of her career was winning the "Best Booth" award at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Windsor, England.
Katie has been driving for more than 40 years. She has been pinned Grand Champion at Devon and at Walnut Hill, she represented the US at multiple Pony World Championships, and she has been both National Pony four-in-hand champion ,4 time National Pair Pony and 2 Time National single horse champion—so Katie knows what hats work for the driving community, for both pleasure drivers and combined drivers

The Saddlebred shows are a more recent venue that Hats by Katie has become quite popular with the pleasure driving division .
Katie has become very popular making hats for the Racing crowd, her custom creations appear at Ascot ,The Kentucky Derby,The Breeders Cup, The Belmont and the Preakness.
